High School Ethics Bowl
On December 12th, the 5th Annual Manitoba High School Ethics Bowl was held in partnership with Manitoba Education and the University of Manitoba Centre for Applied and Professional Ethics.
This collaborative and competitive event is a great opportunity for students to learn about ethical dilemmas, as well as practice their ability to think and analyze complex issues. As they share views and ideas participants engage and learn from each other.
This year we had 16 High Schools participating from across Manitoba. The Ethics Bowl encourages critical thinking and respectful dialogue, as students engage with peers creating lifelong skills as global citizens.
The competition rewards students for their communications and collaboration abilities and the respect they show to the diverse opinions and perspectives from their peers. The winner of the 5th Annual Manitoba High School Ethics Bowl was Fort Richmond Collegiate, and the runner up was Miles Macdonell Collegiate.
In addition, for the first time this year, MARL celebrated the Annual French Annual Ethics Bowl. The event was held at the Université de Saint-Boniface with the participation of six teams.
After a full day of discussion and engagement of topics and ideas, the team from Collège Louis-Riel won the cup showcasing their argumentative skills. Congratulations to the runner up, Collège Jeanne-Sauvé.
